What does ITB do?

How long is ITB training for Marines?

59-dayInfantry Training Battalion (ITB) is a 59-day course. The mission is to train, mentor, and evaluate Marines in the Infantry MOS with specific entry-level tasks under the leadership of Combat Instructors.

How long is MCT training?

Marine Combat Training (MCT) is located at the School of Infantry (SOI) at Camp Pendleton, California and Camp Geiger, North Carolina. MCT is a basic infantry training condensed into 29 days.

Is MCT harder than boot camp?

Some Marines found MCT to be a challenge, while others thought it was much easier than boot camp. After this training, Marines move on to training specific to their MOS before transferring to their Permanent Duty Stations.

How long is SOI and ITB?

59 daysRecruits that seek to become a member of the infantry company endure 59 days of training through the Infantry Training Battalion. The purpose of the Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) is to develop new recruits into infantrymen “who can fight, survive, and win in a combat situation.”

Do you get your phone at MCT?

Since the majority of training is conducted in the field during the 29 days of MCT, Marines will not always have access to their phones. Family and friends are still encouraged to send Letters as a form of communication during this training.

Do you get leave after MCT?

There will be NO leave period after completion of ITB or MCT. You will receive orders to the Fleet Marine Force. Upon Graduation from Marine Combat Training you will receive orders to you your MOS school.

What time do you wake up at MCT?

Typically, during the week, Marines will wake up between 4:00 and 6:00 A.M. and report to either their squad, unit, platoon, or, occasionally, their battalion, for morning Physical Training (PT).

Should I bring civilian clothes to MCT?

Your entire issue of uniforms and gear that you received at the Recruit Depot is all that is required. It is recommended that you bring 3 sets of appropriate civilian clothes to wear on liberty.

What can you not bring to MCT?

Over-the-counter drugs are not permitted at MCT, so do not bring these. If you are currently taking any prescription medicine, bring it along. You will be re-examined by a Marine Corps doctor to determine if you need to take the medication during MCT.

Do you get leave after SOI?

The next phase of training after boot camp is SOI, or School of Infantry. Your new Marine is entitled to one day of travel and ten days leave after recruit training.

Do Marines get weekends off?

No typically but as needed when required.

In fact, this happens to about 15% of recruits who join the military every year. Too many recruits I speak to think that it is impossible to fail basic training.

You must first establish a basic MCTIMS account to gain access, click the link: https://mctims.usmc.mil. When you have selected the link, a new window will direct you to MCTIMS and upon logging in please keep the site page "Open". Return back to this site page and select the applicable link to access content. Do not select the links unless you are logged in as instructed, otherwise MCTIMS will freeze the screen and access will not be gained.
