The contractors must utilize “state of the art” equipment to sweep City streets. These provisions will result in improved stormwater quality. In addition, the Franchise Agreement requires the contractors to ensure that 80% of street sweeping debris is recycled, rather than landfilled. This will increase waste diversion in the City by approximately 2,000 tons (4 million pounds) per year.
