Always nice to see Bad day at black rock Spencer Tracy's finest performance.

I expect the Joan Bennett crew and the Marlon Brando crew will be showing up with their picket signs...

I'm glad to see they're showing Bertrand Tavernier"s My Journey Through French Cinema again. It's long but it's a great overview. I'm ashamed to say the thing which interested me the most was Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979). I've never seen it (and will probably wish I hadn't) but I love the Ramones' song and their goofy spirit in general.

Still running Torchy Blane on Saturdays? Gad, how many of those did they make? I wish they'd swap these movies about and not run the entire series in a row.

This thread gives me a welcome respite from the rest of General Discussions where a lot of poisonous language is being used.

Primetime December 1 I don't know what the theme is, because only one movie airing is made known to us. I hope this isn't going to be like December, where the schedule had dozens of gaps. I still don't think I know 20 or 30% of the movies that are airing in December. Anyway, what we have is:

Daytime January 5 Movies about stage shows. These kinds of movies got their own thread recently. We the viewers rarely get a coherent idea of what the show-within-the-movie would actually be like, but we usually get some tantalizing snippets.

sewhite2000

I screwed up and somehow posted late night January 5 with my daytime January 5 post, completely skipping the primetime schedule. I edited it out of the above post and will attempt to paste it below.

sewhite2000

Daytime January 6 Well, it's movies set on boats. Riverboat Rhythm is probably intended to be part of this list, so I edited it out of the above post.

sewhite2000

Primetime January 6 It's movies about young lovers on crime sprees. The first selection of the night is currently unlisted. There's another gap in the middle of the night, so I'm unsure if the list below is missing two films, or if the missing film will turn out to be part of the random late-night fare.

sewhite2000

Payment Deferred (Charles Laughton, Maureen O'Sullivan) (MGM, 1932) Wise Girl (Miriam Hopkins, Ray Milland) (RKO, 1937) Irene (Anna Neagle, Ray Milland) (RKO, 1940) A Life of Her Own (Lana Turner, Ray Milland) (MGM, 1950) Close to My Heart (Ray Milland, Gene Tierney) (Warner Bros., 1951) Night into Morning (Ray Milland, John Hodiak) (MGM, 1951) The Safecracker (Ray Milland, Barry Jones) (MGM, 1958).

sewhite2000

Primetime January 7 It's Red River, and then the schedule is blank until TCM Underground starts, so I don't know what the theme is.

sewhite2000

Daytime January 8 Saturday matinee. I'm only listing the features. Tim Holt and the Bowery Boys appear to be recurring themes for Saturday matinee all month.
