Vernon - Renfro Valley, Kentucky, which is WRVK 1460 AM. For many years now, WRVK has been owned and operated separately from the Entertainment Center, although it was also co-founded by John Lair in 1957. Today WRVK is owned by Saylor Broadcasting, Inc.
How did Renfro Valley get its name?
Renfro Valley is a Rockcastle county community just north of Mount Vernon and now within its city limits. It was named for Renfro Creek which was named for James Renfro, an early land owner in the area. Settlement began around 1789. The Renfro Valley post office opened in 1939.
