2021 season

The 2021 Michigan Wolverines football team compiled a 12–2 record over the course of the season. This resulted in Michigan's first trip to the Big Ten Football Championship Game, where they beat the Iowa Hawkeyes by a score of 42–3. With this victory, Michigan secured its first Big Ten championship since 2004.

Colorado State

The Wolverines opened their 2022 season on September 3 against the Colorado State Rams. Before a crowd of 109,575 at Michigan Stadium, the Wolverines defeated the Rams, 51–7. [6]

Hawaii

On September 10, Michigan hosted Hawaii before a crowd of 110,012 at Michigan Stadium. The game was delayed by an hour due to a passing thunderstorm. The 9:01 p.m. kickoff was the latest in Michigan Stadium history. Due to the weather delay, the tradition of running under the M Club banner was not followed for the first time in some 60 years. Maryland

On September 24, Michigan defeated Maryland, 34–27, before a homecoming crowd of 110,225 at Michigan Stadium.

at Iowa

Following their homecoming game against Maryland, Michigan will travel to Iowa City, Iowa to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in their road opener. The two teams played each other in the 2021 Big Ten Football Championship Game in which Michigan defeated Iowa 42–3 to win their first Big Ten Championship since 2004. [23]

at Indiana

Following their game at Iowa, Michigan will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to face the Indiana Hoosiers. Last season, Michigan defeated Indiana 29-7. [24]

Penn State

Following their game at Indiana, Michigan will return home to face the Penn State Nittany Lions. Last season, Michigan defeated Penn State, 21–17, at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania. [25]
