Illinois High School Association Cheerleading and Dance

Founded in 1900, the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is a private, not-for-profit organization with more than 800 member high school schools in the Land of Lincoln.

Do you need a mask for halftime cheer?

Outdoor activities like sideline cheer and halftime dance do not need to mask.

Do cheerleaders wear masks?

Participants in indoor sports/activities such as competitive cheer and sideline cheer need to wear a mask. Per the IDPH, cheerleading practice indoors needs to mask except when actively stunting or tumbling due to safety issues. Masks can be removed during competitive routines provided student-athletes mask before and after the athletic activity.
