What's new for the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2022?
(WFRV) – Old Glory Honor Flight personnel are busy preparing for the 2022 season and have announced some changes for this year. In 2021, the non-profit organization hosted two Honor Flights and had to follow several COVID-19 protocols, including mask-wearing and testing.
What is Honor Flight Network?
Our Mission: To transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C.
What is an honor flight trip?
Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the chance to share this momentous trip with other veterans, to remember friends and comrades lost, and share their stories and experiences with each other. The Honor Flight Network is currently serving veterans who served from World War II to the Korean War and through to Vietnam.

How do you get chosen for Honor Flight?
How are veterans chosen to go on a flight? Veterans are chosen based on when they served in the US Military. Currently first priority is given to WWII veterans, followed by Korea War veterans. Veterans within the same war era are prioritized by the date that the application is received.
How much does it cost for Honor Flight?
Guardians pay a $500 guardian fee each for the honor of escorting a veteran to Washington DC.
Who can accompany a veteran on an Honor Flight?
Each veteran is required to have a guardian. The guardian is typically someone a generation younger than the veteran. They can be a son, daughter, grandchild (over 18) or good friend. Spouses are not allowed to be a guardian (see other FAQ on this topic).
Why can't spouses go on Honor Flight?
A: The only spouses who are permitted to go are those who are veterans themselves. We do not have the resources, funding, or seating available to transport all the veterans who are presently on our waiting list. Adding spouses simply isn't an option for our program.
Can veterans fly for free?
Service members, their families, and veterans with a 100% disability rating may be able to use Space-Available Flights (a service operated by the U.S. Air Force's Air Mobility Command) to travel anywhere around the world at little to no cost.
How many veterans are usually on each Honor Flight?
HonorAir provided everything: a medical doctor and several EMTs, guardians who would attend to the needs of three to four veterans each, tour buses to take them the World War II Memorial and other national memorials, and a box lunch.
Can spouse go with veteran on Honor Flight?
Can I go? A: Sadly, the answer is “no.” Our priority is to accommodate the WWII, Korean War and terminally ill veterans on our waiting list. Adding spouses and widows simply isn't an option for our program.

How much money do I need to bring? The cost is FREE for World War II, terminally ill veterans, and Korean War veterans. You do not need to bring any money, unless you intend to purchase souvenirs. Guardians pay their expenses on the trip which is approximately $600.
