Many of the bigger events like parades are free, but there are ticketed music events, theatre events, entry to carnival, brewery tours etc, which must be booked before the festival or while you are there. There are also lots of raffles and activities which fundraise for the hospital.

Two Shriners from Hillbilly Clan 1, Outhouse 2, Howard "Dirty Ear" Stratton and "Shady" Grady Kinney, decided to host a hillbilly parade in Pikeville, Ky. in 1976 after visiting a parade in Portsmouth, Oh. earlier that year. Over the years, the parade grew into a full three-day festival. It has continued ever since. Now, more than 100,000 people from around the country come once a year to experience the festival and the cultural heritage of Appalachia. Many participants still wear overalls and other rural attire, during the festival, while roaming the streets of Pikeville to help raise money for a cause.

The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Hillbilly Days Committee reserves the right to refuse any and all applications. They also have the right to allow a vendor to set up as well as the right to close the booth of any vendor not following the Hillbilly Days Vendor Rules and Regulations included in this form. Inappropriate and disrespectful behavior, foul language or refusal to follow the requests of Hillbilly Days Staff will not be tolerated. Any vendor in violation will be required to leave immediately. There will be NO refunds.

The applicant acknowledges that this application along with the Hillbilly Days Vendor Rules and Regulations constitute a binding and valid contract between the applicant and the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Hillbilly Days Committee if the application is accepted.

All participants MUST report to the staging area and check-in with Chamber Hillbilly Days Officials to receive booth tags and information packets before setting up. Set-up times will be assigned to all vendors to minimize confusion and congestion. No vendor will be allowed to set up before the assigned time, if a vendor sets up before the assigned time they will be asked to leave without a refund.
Is Hillbilly Days a commercial vendor?
All politically affiliated organizations will be classified as commercial vendors. No exceptions. To receive the Handmade (ONLY) Crafts price, you must provide proof that you make the crafts being sold.
Can the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce modify or alter the terms of this agreement?
The applicant acknowledges that no promises or statements made by a Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce or Hillbilly Days Committee representative can modify or alter the terms of this agreement unless the changes are in writing and signed by both the applicant and the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Hillbilly Days Committee.
