The Freeride World Tour (FWT) is an annually toured series of events in which the best freeskiers and snowboard freeriders compete for individual event wins, as well as the overall title of World Champion in their respective genders and disciplines.

After Kicking Horse, a cut will be made to the field based on riders’ top two results, with the top 26 riders (12 ski men, 5 ski women, 5 snowboard men, 4 snowboard women) qualified for the final two events of the year: The FWT Finals.

Each rider will have two runs, with only their top score counting towards the final results. Freeride is traditionally a one-run sport, and this format update is certain to push the riding to stratospheric, never-before-seen heights ahead of the all-important showdown at the Xtreme Verbier!

The new format: Cut after third event, then two final events

New in the 2022 season is the format of the two final events: After the third stop in Canada, there will be a cut: only the best 26 riders (12 male skiers, 5 female skiers, 5 male snowboarders, 4 female snowboarders) will qualify for the last two season events, the FWT Finals. The two best results of each participant will be taken into account.

Here the Swede Kristoffer Turdell is the defending champion. But with Isaac Freeland (USA, champion 2020) and Leo Slemett (France, champion 2017), two other former overall winners are also in the mix.

Partners of the Freeride World Tour
