The event ceased to exist after 1911, only to be reconstituted at Seattle Golf Club in 1967 to attract the USGA out to the West Coast and consider western amateur golf talent for Walker Cup Team selection.

Western Amateur

The Western Amateur, conducted by the Western Golf Association, is the third oldest amateur tournament in the world and is renowned for being the toughest test in amateur golf. The 156-player field competes in 72 holes of stroke play, qualifying with two cuts after 36 and 72 holes. The top 16 players then continue on for match play.
