Taking their name from the three colours of the flag, El Tri became the first Mexican rock band to achieve a gold certified album after releasing their album ‘Simplemente’ which featured their first single ‘Triste Cancion. Their 1986 hit ‘Vicioso del rocanrol’ loosely translated as ‘vicious rock and roll’ became a huge success in Peru as it stormed its way onto the radio charts securing their popularity in Chile, Venezula, Argentina and of course Spain.
