What is the Barn Theatre's central focus?
Our central focus is to keep our patrons safe as they continue to enjoy the wonderful performances at The Barn Theatre.
How many seasons did Lillian work at the Barn Theatre?
To say that Lillian was a prolific, dedicated and valued member of the Barn Theatre family would be the understatement of the century. Over her 47 (yes, 47!) seasons of service to The Barn, Lillian was widely considered to be THE go-to producer at the theatre. In the course of those 47 seasons, Lillian served as Producer for an astounding 54 productions and as Lead Costumer for 28 productions (often pulling double duty for both functions). In addition, Lillian served as both a member of our Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, most recently in the position of Trustee Emeritus.
What are the awards that Lillian has received at the Barn?
She was a recipient of virtually every Service Award that the Barn bestows: The Zach Morfogen Award (for contributions to the theatre above and beyond the call of duty); The Frank & Marge Gaffney Award (for backstage contributions); The Alice Mahler Award (for mentoring); and in 2016, Lillian was the very first recipient of The Jay Mills Award (for volunteerism to the Barn). In fact, the only Barn Service Award that Lillian did not receive was the Jerry Schreiber Youth Award (a fact that we think would have made her give her signature chuckle!).
Why did Lillian only appear once on the stage?
Given the length of her service to the Barn, however, Lillian ironically only ever appeared *on* our stage once: in a March 1980 evening of poetry readings. Why? Because she never wanted the spotlight or applause for herself; she just loved theatre. She loved the Barn, and she loved working with all her many friends and colleagues to make theatre accessible to people.
