Where was the 2022 US junior national championships held?

This tournament was held in Frisco, Texas at the Frisco Fieldhouse. The 2022 U.S. Junior National Championships was open to U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age groups. The tournament was also open to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens residing in the U.S (not short term visas, such as B visas). Over 600 athletes participated in the event.

Fleets

The singlehanded fleet (Smythe Trophy) is typically raced in ILCA 6 and doublehanded (Bemis Trophy) in Club 420s. The type of boat the triplehanded fleet (Sears Trophy) is held in varies based on the availability of boats at the host club each year. The Sears fleet at the 2020 National Championship will be raced in the VX One.

Qualification

Junior sailors competing at the National Championship have qualified to represent their Area at their respective Area’s Qualifier. Each of the 11 Areas recognized by US Sailing send two teams to the National Championship for the single and doublehanded fleets, with the exception of Areas H and L, each of whom send one team.
